Elite Colors - "Much has been written about the colors applied to Lotus Elites during the car’s production run and most of the stories, if not all, are probably true. The Works was keen to satisfy customers and would paint their car to suit. It was only late in production that brochures and price lists gave the standard offerings at the time; white, red and yellow."

Green & Yellow - "Quite why the Lotus Elite was seen as a palette for racing stripes is unknown. It was, arguably, the most striped car of all time, although if you include Cobra and Cobra replicas the Elite would fall to second place. A future issue of Lotus Elite Journal will  nclude a color photo essay of many of the Elite striping combinations but for now we’ll only look at the most popular. That being yellow over green. "

 Racing Stripes - "For some unexplained reason the Lotus Elite was seen as the perfect canvas for the application of racing stripes. It was also, arguably, the most frequently striped car of all time. Some might insist this distinction has to be shared with the modern day Cobra and its replicas but the Elite was most certainly the first. Quite why the Lotus Elite was seen as a palette for racing stripes is unknown.
